In 2005, Hima-Sella was awarded a contract to supply a combined Emergency Shutdown, Fire & Gas Detection System and PLC Control System to Costain Oil, Gas & Process Ltd in the UK. The Emergency Shutdown and Fire & Gas Detection comprise of HIMA HiQuad H51q programmable technology and are for incorporation onto the BNG Modular Active Effluent Treatment Project (MAETP) at the Hunterston A Power Station in West Kilbride, Scotland.

Both systems utilise simplex I/O configuration meeting Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 3, in accordance with the guidelines and procedures stipulated in IEC-61508.

The Fire & Gas System has been designed for maximum integrity and reliability by utilising an addressable ADT MX system, which interfaces with the existing system on site. The fire alarm system will be mounted in the combined panel, with an InTouch based HMI providing the operator workstation.
